Hello, welcome to our club.
Westgate and Birchington Golf Club was founded in 1893 and so this year celebrates 125 years of existence. In many ways the club is unique. We are positioned in a semi-rural setting and yet half of the course offers views of the North Sea. The character of the course in somewhere between parkland and links. We are not the longest course in the world at just 4877 yards off the White tees and 4644 yards off the Red tees with pars of 64 and 67 respectively. We have 8 par threes, all of which need to be played well to post a good score and, all 18 holes are positioned in three separate fields, so you see why I say we are unique and we are acknowledged by many as a must visit golf venue.
Given that the pars are 64 and 67 the course is tight, sitting as it does between residential roads, a railway and the coast. The greens, by usual standards, are small and subtly contoured, so accurate approach play and good putting are essential to meet the golfing challenge.
Like the course, the clubhouse is also small but you are assured of a warm welcome from our bar and catering staff. In fact, the club has a well deserved reputation of being one of the friendliest clubs to visit in the area.
Please come and join us either, as a visitor or maybe to take up one of the varied membership categories we offer. I can assure you of a good golfing challenge and a friendly welcome in the clubhouse.
